Contents of the prologue: 1950, Petka Vikulov, nicknamed Gramophone, his mother died, he lives with his aunt. One day he finds an icon frame and hides it, since once upon a time his mother also had an icon. For this he is expelled from the pioneers. He decides to run to his father, about whom, however, he knows nothing. He also sings in the choir of the House of Pioneers, a soloist, his signature song is Jim's song from "Treasure Island". When kicked out of the pioneers, he refuses the choir, but is persuaded to perform one last time. He decides to make his farewell speech and run away...
